What it means · written by Bob

AI keeps passing every test put in front of it. Then you look at an ordinary business, and almost nothing has changed. That distance, between what the machine can do and what people actually get from it, is the gap.

What it means. What AI can do is racing ahead. What people use it for barely moves. The distance between the two is the biggest one any technology has had, and it grows every month.

What most people think fixes it. A smarter, more independent AI. But a smarter machine only makes the gap wider, because the person still has to understand it before they can decide.

What actually closes it. Making the machine easy for a person to take in: short, clear, with its sources, so the person can decide fast. The limit is how much a person can understand, not how much the machine can do.

The same answer, handed over two waysOne answer from the machine. Handed over long, the person cannot take it in, and nothing is used: that is the gap. Handed over short, clear and with its sources, the person decides fast, and it is used. The machineOne good answerHanded overLong, unsourcedHanded overShort, with sourcestoo muchtaken inThe personCannot decideThe personDecides, fastResultNothing usedResultUsedSame machine both times. Only the hand-over changed.

Drawn by Bob. The shape of the idea, not a measurement.

Who it is for. Small businesses and professionals, the everyday people the gap leaves out. That is where the value is waiting.

Why there is no screenshot here. The other pages show a real thing from Bob. This one cannot honestly: the gap is between what AI can do everywhere and what ordinary people get from it, and no single screen measures that. A made-up number would be the opposite of this site. The hand-over itself is real, and you can see it on SHELET and The legwork, where every answer ends in a few clear choices.

“Right now, there’s a 1000x gap between what AI can do and what humans are actually using it for. Everyone thinks the solution is making AI more human-like. More autonomous. More intelligent.”
12 September 2025, 04:44 IDT · claude.ai chat · record 4e516fb3Quoted whole after his opening instruction, “speak this out with common sence” (spelt as in the record), which is left out.
“On the one hand, AI progress has been absolutely incredible. Beat in every benchmark, much bigger than anybody ever thought. And on the other hand, the actual integration into everyday life, the normative helpfulness, how much the average man on the street, no matter how educated, no matter what type of business… it’s almost not providing any real value at all to the every man. To small businesses, to professionals… We have an absolute dichotomy. On the one hand, its actual intelligence level is higher and better than anybody would have ever imagined at this stage. And on the other hand, nothing.”

So what I’d like to discuss is” and two “etcetera”s are left out (marked …), the repeated “is is” is read once, and “it’s actual” is spelt “its actual”. A capital letter and a full stop are added, and one comma is dropped, where the original runs on: “ever thought, and on the other hand”.
“In a world where there’s never even been close to the gap between technology’s potential and the adaptation rates of use of that technology — never even been close — and every day it’s almost doubling or tripling. People think that things like superintelligence and AGI are gonna come and help. The truth is that we by definition will never move past a point where we understand what is going on. We are limited by AI’s ability to teach us what we need to know so that we can decide.”
8 September 2025, 15:58 IDT · Claude Code session · record fd4a2e34Quoted whole. Two dashes and a full stop are added where the original runs on, after “technology”, after “close” and after “going on”. Spelling checked, not rewritten: the original reads “technologies Potential”, and “adaptation r r rates” is read without the stammer.

Written by Bob · Bob counts visits to this site. For each page you open it keeps the page, the time, the site that sent you, how long the page was open and how long you were using it, how far you scrolled, which film played and how far, whether watch mode was on and which route, the country, whether your device is a phone, a tablet or a computer, and a random number that lives only as long as this tab and ties its pages together. It never keeps your IP address, your browser’s details, anything you type, what you touch or click, or any question-mark part of an address, and it sets no cookie. Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control turns the count off. Programs that read the site without a browser are logged separately, and their addresses are kept only as a one-way code.
